Mistfall Hunter Guide Hub - Solo Rules, Death & Loot, Market Guides
Guides for Mistfall Hunter, the dark-fantasy extraction ARPG by Bellring Games: what solo players can actually do, what you keep when you die, how the Auction House really pays out, and what's coming in Season 1.
Mistfall Hunter is a third-person PvPvE extraction ARPG from Bellring Games. You drop into the mist-shrouded world of Weavereach solo or as a three-player squad, fight monsters and other hunters with souls-like melee combat, harvest Gyldenblood, and reach an extraction point before someone takes it all off your body. Six classes, each with two weapon stances, deep talent trees and gem affixes sit on top of the genre's core bargain: extract and keep it, die and lose it.
The launch was big and bumpy. The developers passed 1,000,000 players by August 5, up from 500,000 in the first three days. Reviews on the Steam store page sit at Mixed β 63.2% positive of 9,398 reviews as of August 8 β driven mostly by solo/duo frustration, server regions, monetization and launch bugs rather than the combat itself. This hub covers the parts the game never explains.
Version note: Current for the August 7 server-side update, checked August 8, 2026. Assembled from developer posts and player reports, linked inline.

The Loop in One Paragraph
Pick a class, gear up from your warehouse (or a cheap combat bag loadout), and queue into a match. In the mist you fight AI monsters and elites, loot chests, work task objectives and push quest steps. At any moment another hunter or a full trio can third-party you. To leave with your haul you have to extract: reach or summon an extraction point β the bell-hung Soul Trees, or a Soul of Return β and get out. Die instead and you lose what you carried and wore, except a small protected safe pocket and your keychain. Between raids you spend that loot: Auction House trading, camp building upgrades, talents, forging and gem-slotting. Season 1, "Soul Hunt," adds seasonal quests, a free Battle Pass and the upcoming Soul Harvest ritual.
Start Here
- Playing alone? Start with the Solo Guide. Solo players get one map, parts of the main quest chain route through the trio map, and there are two community-proven ways around that (Chaos-difficulty bosses and fill-off trio queueing).
- Not sure what dying costs? Death, Loot & Matchmaking Rules covers what you keep (safe pocket, keychain, XP), the skull icon over better-geared enemies, and what's known about gear-based matchmaking and bot lobbies.
- Losing money on the Auction House? The Market & Warehouse Guide has the listing-fee math that makes vendoring beat undercutting on most items, plus a filterable sell-or-keep table.
- Losing every fight to the same class? PvP Class Counters covers how to fight all six classes β especially Shadowstrix, the community's consensus solo menace β the stagger and stunlock rules, and what the official Fair Play policy allows.
- On PS5, Xbox, Game Pass or a controller? The Controller & Console Guide collects the platform facts (crossplay, region locking, servers) and the controller-specific bugs and fixes.
- Crashing, rubberbanding or stuck in spectator? Fixes & Performance tracks the Fatal Error cluster, the driver blue-screen workaround, server complaints, and exactly which of them the August 6 update did and did not fix.
Latest official news (August 5-6): a Solo Mode for Brandrgarde on Normal and Cataclysm difficulty is confirmed for the middle of Season 1 in September β the single biggest change for solo players. The August 6 client update started Dried Flower Knot drops, opened the Einherjar Mist Lords, cleared a batch of crashes and softlocks, and made the first class-balance pass. Log in before August 12 to claim the 1,000,000-player milestone rewards (Standing Pose: Spellcasting, 5 Moonlight Nectar, and two combat bags) from your in-game mail.
FAQ
Is Mistfall Hunter worth buying right now? It depends on who you play with. The combat, class variety and extraction tension get praise even inside negative reviews, and the player count is healthy. The Mixed rating comes from structure: solo players are limited to one map with main-quest steps gated behind the trio map, there's no duo mode, Oceania has no local servers, and launch bugs are still being patched (the developers posted a 12-item known-issues list on day one). Buying it to play with two friends is an easy call. Buying it to play strictly solo or duo β read the Solo Guide first.
Is there a duo mode? No, and there's no date for one. The developers' AMA answer is that duo queues would split the matchmaking pool and lengthen queue times for everyone. Solo players did get an answer, though: the August 5 roadmap confirms a Brandrgarde Solo Mode on both Normal and Cataclysm difficulty for the middle of Season 1 in September, upgrading the earlier "may open for a limited time" wording. Two friends can still queue trio and let the game fill the third slot.
Is Mistfall Hunter pay-to-win? Purchases are cosmetics only. The store page commits to "zero pay-to-win mechanics," and the developers repeated in their AMA that paid content will not affect power. The community's real-money argument is about gacha-style cosmetic pricing, not stats.
What is Soul Harvest and when does it start? Soul Harvest is Season 1's themed gameplay: an in-match ritual where a new elite monster, the Soulgnawer, disrupts the process while rival teams can third-party you. It now has an official date window: the developers said on August 7 that next week's client update launches Soul Harvest and opens Season Tasks, alongside another batch of fixes. The Einherjar-mode Mist Lord fight and Dried Flower Knot drops arrived in the August 6 update as promised.
Will there be a PvE mode? The developers confirmed in their pre-launch AMA that a pure PvE mode is "in the works, but it will still take some time" β no date. Bots already pad lobbies (officially confirmed), so lower-intensity matches exist today. A dedicated PvE queue doesn't.
