Tavern Legends Guide Hub - Beginner Tips, 1.0 Changes & Bug Fixes

Guides for Tavern Legends 1.0, the first-person medieval tavern sim by CROWFORGE Games: getting started, what changed at 1.0, and current bug status.

Tavern Legends is a first-person medieval tavern sim with an unhinged streak. You start alone in a small 14th-century tavern, sweeping floors, tapping beer, cooking and serving. From there you hire staff, buy up every tavern in town, and survive visits from a king who treats your establishment as his personal toilet. The town is freely explorable, you get your own home, and the tone runs from cozy innkeeper fantasy to slapstick chaos β€” both are literally settings, covered below.

Version 1.0 released July 17, 2026, after exactly one year in Early Access. It is the work of one developer, CROWFORGE Games, who patches fast: eight patches in the first eleven days after launch, and V1.0.9 shipped two forum-requested features within three days of the requests.

Version note: Current for V1.0.9 (July 28, 2026). Built from the developer's patch notes and Steam forum replies, store and achievement data, and community reports from launch week and Early Access. We update as patches land.

What's New in 1.0

Coming back from Early Access? Budget time for these:

  • Tavern Inspector β€” roughly weekly inspections scoring cleanliness, service, dirty dishes and order. The result moves your Fame up or down.
  • Fame reset β€” every tavern starts at 0 Fame and climbs step by step. Progression is harder than in late-EA builds.
  • The "Golden Chicken" casino β€” a questline unlocks a roulette den in town.
  • Farming β€” a bank project unlocks a backyard for planter boxes, and watered plants grow twice as fast. Mushroom farms grow Moon Mushrooms inside the tavern.
  • Moon Juice β€” pressed from Moon Mushrooms. Guests get happier and tip better, and turn noticeably more aggressive.
  • Four new reservation types and larger weddings, plus per-tavern lighting controls, a reworked cleaning system (dirt wipes away progressively as you scrub), reworked workers, and an official completion state. The game can now be finished.

  • First day behind the bar? The Beginner Guide covers the serve-it-yourself early game, why tips beat everything before reservations take over, and the milestones that mark real progress.
  • Hired staff who just stand there? The Workers Guide has the task checkboxes that make workers pour and cook, the V1.0.4 skill-and-happiness speed system, and the layout rules their AI needs.
  • Wondering where the money is? The Money Guide maps every income source by game stage β€” tips, reservations, the market stall, bank interest (bugged at launch, fixed July 24) β€” and explains why taverns earn almost nothing while you are away.
  • Something broken? Workers freezing behind the counter, the vanishing bard, performance drops: the launch-window bug list with developer-confirmed workarounds is in Bugs & Fixes.

Choose Your Chaos: the Three Playstyles

Pick a preset at the start β€” Cozy, Normal, or Crazy β€” then tune every ingredient individually mid-game. Bandit raids, the king's visits, coughing plague-adjacent guests: all toggleable. Want a peaceful inn? Set one up. Want flaming chickens? Also on the menu. Even the Inspector has an off switch since V1.0.4, added three days after launch.

FAQ

Is Tavern Legends worth buying at 1.0? Buy now if you tolerate launch-window bugs. Wait a few weeks if you do not β€” though the patch cadence so far is fast. The overall rating is Very Positive across a year of Early Access, and 1.0 reviews praise what the store page promises: a tavern that feels like a living place, real progression, and genuinely funny chaos. The recurring complaints are optimization (FPS drops when the tavern fills with NPCs), worker AI that still gets stuck, and a few reviewers who feel the content does not yet justify the full $24.99.

How long is the game? There is no official figure, and a sandbox loop varies wildly. Launch-week reviewers report 8-hour first sessions. The completion achievement ("Legendary Tavern Keeper β€” Finish Tavern Legends!") sits at 0.5% of players; owning every tavern in town ("Tavern Legend") at 2.5%. Treat it as a long game if you want one.

Can I run multiple taverns? Yes. Buying a second tavern is mid-game progression ("Double Tap," earned by 16.7% of players), and the endgame is owning every tavern in town. Since V1.0.9 (July 28) an option lets multiple taverns operate at the same time, with an official performance warning attached, and workers can be switched between them. Do not plan around passive income: taverns earn little while you are not physically present, which is why the developer recommends working your own bar early.

Is there multiplayer? No β€” single-player only.
